Åkeshovs Castle

Gabriel Stierncrona had the houses rebuilt, which in the 1720s took on their current appearance. The castle was rebuilt in several stages, including in the years 1723 and 1740 by architect Carl Hårleman. During the rebuilding in 1723, Gabriel Stierncrona gave the outer appearance of the man building that it still has. Above the main entrance is a sandstone portal, which is classically shaped and bears the coats of arms of Gabriel Stierncrona and his wife Antoinette Maria Amya, as well as the year 1723, which was also the year of Gabriel Stierncrona's death. Under the coat of arms sits an elegant Rococo wrought iron grille with a pattern of wrought iron loops and gilded leaves. In 1747 a beautiful orangery was built. The orangery was built in elegant Rococo style by Carl Hårleman a short distance from the main building. The orangery is a long and low building with austere and well-shaped rococo facades, which, like the wings, are typical of Hårleman's style. Read more on Wikipedia
