The resting home (also The Engineer's House)

The resting home (also The Engineer's House) is an Art Nouveau villa next to Lake Magelungen at Gräsmarksgränd 2 in Farsta beach, southern Stockholm. The house was built in 1903 in what was then called Södertörn's villa town and is far visible over Ågesta bridge which is nearby. The building is located on a south slope towards Magelungen. It is a large two-storey villa in light-colored plaster and art nouveau style, but also recalls the 18th-century mansion architecture with rustic facade treatment on the ground floor. Parts of the house carry influences from the stone city architecture of the 1890s. The steep mansard roof, the dome-shaped, karnis-curved stairwell roof as well as the small tops of the windows were common in the Art Nouveau-inspired style that prevailed when the house was built. Many ceilings and murals from the original time are preserved, as are the tiled stoves. On the plot there is also the original gazebo left. //Wikipedia
