The current manor house was built in the 1780s in Gustavian style for baron Johan Liljencrantz according to drawings by architect Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz. However, the two grand wings are about a hundred years older. The property was acquired in 1899 by the City of Stockholm and became part of the Bornsjö properties. In the 1950s, Sturehov's main building was renovated through one of the most extensive restoration projects that the City of Stockholm had had to carry out.
