The City Museum in Stockholm

The City Museum in Stockholm (until 2013 Stockholm City Museum) is a museum in Stockholm that takes stock of, documenting, collecting and presenting material related to Stockholm history. The museum is housed in södra stadshuset's former premises located at Ryssgården in Södermalm and shows permanent and temporary exhibitions. The City Museum was founded in 1937 and opened to the public in 1942. It was the find of the Riddarholm ship that led to the city museum being founded. Today it is Sweden's largest municipal museum and manages collections consisting of, among other things, 300, 000 objects, 25, 000 works of art and 3.5 million photographs. The building began to be built in 1663, the drawings were made by the then city architect in Stockholm, Nicodemus Tessin the Elder. 1676 as the town hall building on Södermalm. //Wikipedia
