Schefflerska palatset The Ghost Castle”

Schefflerska Palace, since the 1830s also known as The Ghost Castle, is an ore farm at Drottninggatan 116. During the 19th century, the ”Kniggehouse” was also called. It was built as a summer residence around 1700 by the merchant Hans Petter Scheffler. The developer hired an unfortunately unknown builder/architect in his hometown of Hamburg in the last year of the 17th century. The building originally had two running wings to the street and a high attica with ornamental gable, a motif of German origin. The elegant stucco fence in the main hall is probably the work of the Italian stucco Giuseppe Marchi, which several from the high end hired. Along Drottninggatan there were also two three-length timber wing buildings, one of which was preserved on Skansen. The tomb mentioned back in the 18th century and demolished in 1907 was probably the first owner's grave, which gradually decayed and thus gave rise to rumors of ghosts. Hans Petter Scheffler's initials in the form of a monogram can be seen above the house gate portal towards Drottninggatan. //Wikipedia
