South tower (Söder torn)

Construction in 1997. Söder tower is a high-rise building located on Fatburstrappan 18, next to Fatbursparken on Södermalm in Stockholm. The building has an altitude of about 86 meters above the ground including the ”crown” and consists of 24 floors, which contain condominium apartments and some business premises. As part of the transformation of the Southern Station area, Söder Torn was originally designed by Danish architect Henning Larsen, who, however, dropped out of the project in protest when he felt that too much was compromised. The tower, built by JM with SBC Sveriges Bostadsrättscentrum as the client, was completed in 1997. The building is called in the vernacular of Haglund's stick or Pinnen, after the former city planning commissioner Sune Haglund (m), who was the driving force behind its creation /Wikipedia.
