Nobels dynamite factory

Vinterviken. In 1865, the entire area was bought by Alfred Nobel, who moved here from Heleneborg on Södermalm because the business there became too dangerous to the public. In Vinterviken he set up a factory and testing business for the manufacture of dynamite in particular. The place was chosen with care, in a narrow valley surrounded by high mountains with forest and direct connection to lake Mälaren. A certificate was attached where the owners in vinterviken's vicinity, Aspudden, Blommensberg, Mörtviken and Örnsberg did not mind the construction of an explosive factory. When the purchase was finished, the device was moved into a stable, a greenhouse had to become a laboratory, etc. At the start, Alfred Nobel was himself CEO, operating engineer, correspondent, cashier and advertising agent. From 1866 to 1875, Alarik Liedbeck, who also participated in the construction of the facility, served as a master of the plant. The production of explosives continued in Vinterviken until 1921, but Nitro Nobel AB had some activities left until the 1980s.. Due to the accidents at the factory, blast pits were built where the various elements of dynamite production were divided. Some of these blast pits were also built in the mountain. Nobel's 1870s blast pits became a law-protected antiquities in 1995. //Wikipedia
