Mariedal

Construction year 1849, Hornsberg beach. In 1849, wholesaler Carl Scharp rebuilt the house and named it Mariedal. Tanner Jacob Westin bought the place and spent his last years there, he died in 1880. Mariedal was then branched to St. Göran Hospital in 1907-1932 and was used as the Home of Lupus Disease, for patients with skin tuberculosis treated with the so-called Finsen method, named after the Danish doctor Niels Ryberg Finsen who invented the method and received the Nobel Prize in 1903. During the war years Mariedal was used as a military camp. Between 1962 and 2012, ”Länkarna” was located in Mariedal. When the ”Länkarna” took over the house, it was badly consumed and worn down and lacked both water and sewage. The association's members carried out a thorough renovation, installed water pipe, toilets and modern heating. Wikipedia.
