Karlberg's castle

Karlbergs Castle is located by Karlbergssjön in Solna, bordering Stockholm north of the western part of Kungsholmen, south of Tomteboda, east of Pampas Marina and west of Vasastaden. Today, the castle houses the Karlberg Military Academy. In the 1620s, Gustav II Adolf's half-brother, Admiral Carl Carlsson Gyllenhielm and his wife Christina Ribbing, became owners of three villages within Solna parish.[1] From these, a manor was formed which was named Karlberg. In 1634, a larger stone house was built which forms the core of the current facility. After Carl's death in 1650, it stood empty until Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie bought it nineteen years later.
