The name comes from Kaknäs, one of four royal estates that were located here. The tower has a height of 155 meters (170 meters including the mast) and 34 floors. Kaknästornet began to be built in 1963 as a link tower for radio and TV broadcasts. The tower was inaugurated on May 12, 1967.
