Adolf Fredriks church

The church was designed by the architect Baron Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz. King Adolf Fredrik laid the foundation stone for the church in 1768. It is from him that the church got its name. The new church was consecrated on Sunday 27 November 1774 by Bishop Daniel Herweghr. The church is known partly for a series of fine works of art, partly because many prominent people have been buried in its cemetery, including Prime Minister Olof Palme.
