The house of Adelswärd

Drottninggatan 2. The building was built in 1890 and was designed by architect Isak Gustaf Clason. The house is the neighboring house of the Prime Minister's residence Sagerska huset. In Clason's first sketches for the house, it was designed as a Venetian palace, but during the planning process the building was changed to become a personal reinterpretation of the Swedish Baroque and thus broke with the previous requirement for a style. The material: slate runs again in the ground floor's rustization and in the window scopes where it contrasts with the liquor polishing. The facades are relatively smooth with the two bay windows as actual decoration. The farm facades were trimmed with different plaster varieties and adorned with grafitto and fresco paintings. The five-storey building contained three floors of ten rooms each, one floor of four rooms and one floor of fourteen rooms.
