The river mill stones in Vällingby

The village's old farms from the 16th century were demolished when the modern Vällingby was built. Of the former village, a small cottage from the 18th century remains, Jan-Per's cottage, as well as a couple of sacrificial stones at the southern corner of the center area at Årevägen and Vittangigatan. These river millstones are a memory from an ancient cult/sacrificial site from the Stone Age/Bronze Age.
On the small stones in the middle, you can see knocked round pits, so-called bowl pits or river mills. In them, people probably sacrificed to the gods or the powers for, for example, good vegetation and to cure diseases.
