"Up up and away”

The classical references are the starting point for sculptor Fredrik Wretman's monumental bronze sculpture: Up, up and away 2020. The work, which is 3 meters high, depicts a leg in the leap. By its location in the main entrance to Östermalmshallen, it corresponds to the symbols on the corner tower. (The tower head on the facade facing Östermalmstorg, is crowned by Mercurius' helmet. Mercurius, who according to mythology was Roman god and had his counterpart in the Greek Hermes, was the patron of trade and merchants. Traditionally, he was often depicted with winged helmets and winged sandals reminiscent of his wit and ability to reach out to many.) Stockholmskonst.se.
